OCTOBER 2022

ANNE MARIE'S PLAYLIST

STEPHEN'S PLAYLIST

ANNE MARIE TO STEPHEN:

AM: What is your favorite song?

SB: Ahhhh this one’s going to haunt me for a while, becuase the last song cut from my October playlist was Crocodile Tears by Baseball Game. Thought I had another month. Crushing. So yeah that one.

AM: Have you heard any of these tracks before?

SB: A couple. In addition to Crocs, the others were Oxygen and Summer Wine.

AM: Name one story “missed opportunity”, situation or thing that, as a viewer, you wish had evolved and seen play out on one of your beloved TV shows?

SB: Easy. Rachel Menken and Don Draper. What could have been. Not just because Maggie Siff is on Mount Rushmore for me, but also because they had such great chemistry in the show, especially because she was his equal. One of the few that put him in his place. To just kill her offscreen after we hadn’t seen her in a few seasons was brutal. Would have easily traded some zou bisou bisou screen time to get her back in the story.

STEPHEN TO ANNE MARIE:

SB: What is your favorite song?

AM: “I Miss the Homies” by Decorator. Hilariously I did mistake the meaning of this song when I first fell in love, though! I definitely thought it was a song about getting back to the homies because you’re away and you miss them…then later (on my 45th listen) I realized it was a song about missing the homies because you’re with your main squeeze and THAT feels more right. I kind of like my spin more…

SB: Have you heard any of these tracks before?

AM: No Ties, Fiji Blue!

SB: What’s your favorite musical you’ve ever been to?

AM: Mannnnn, this is a tough one because I don’t go to the theater as much as I should! I was actually looking up shows in LA last night because I never make enough time for that. I don’t think I have a favorite irl musical — I didn’t make it out to the national tour of An American in Paris in 2015, and that musical in movie form is the pièce de résistance for me! The first 15 minutes of that movie are something I modeled my whole adult life on…live in a studio you love…with your friends and great cafes just outside your window nearby….waking up and doing what you love everyday (minus the wealthy benefactor)… and occasionally fall in love??? In my dreams, I could bring that back one day in some form or fashion. Or homage to it. *starts thinking*

I have heard that the Moulin Rouge and Magic Mike shows are fire but I haven’t been. Those are on my list. Best theater of all time was Daniel Craig and Ruth Negga in MacBeth this year. I try to make a point each year to see 1-2 people who have mastered their craft do their thing in person. Actors/athletes/etc. I find it really inspires me and keeps me going.
