STEPHEN'S PLAYLIST

ANNE MARIE'S PLAYLIST

STEPHEN TO ANNE MARIE:

SB: What is your favorite song?

AM: Gonna surprise you this month (you don’t know me!!) and go with All You Wanna Do Is Party by Chuggin Edits.

SB: Have you heard any of these tracks before?

AM: Nada.

SB: If you were going to produce a song and had to sample part of another song, what would it be and what part of the song would you take?

AM: Been thinking a lot about Believe by Cher recently (you might see a reinvention of it on my playlist next month)… I think that chorus would be a great sample, especially if someone like Megan Thee Stallion or Cardi B got ahold of it. I’ve also always thought Still D.R.E.’s intro bars / background keyboard sound would be ripe for innovation and reuse in another genre. Maybe the hook to The Weeknd’s Trilogy “I always want you when I’m coming down” and think that would be fun to play with as well, especially w/ supplemental lyrics that subverted it instead of reinforced it.

ANNE MARIE TO STEPHEN:

AM: What is your favorite song?

SB: Well, I’m gonna just go ahead and skip “She’s in LA” because that’s just fishing with dynamite and that’s not fair. So instead, I’ll give the nod to “Coquette” just because it’s this cool viby understated song that lingers in all the right ways.

AM: Have you heard any of these tracks before?

SB: “She’s in LA” but that’s it.

AM: What cassette tape from your childhood do you wish you still owned?

SB: Man, I feel like this is a tricky question because if we’re talking about cassette tapes that I owned, that narrows the list considerably. And I’m assuming we’re not talking about the mixtapes I used to stay up late listening to the radio to make. Probably my Donna Lewis “I Love You Always Forever” single cassette. Still not over it. If we’re talking about other people’s tapes in the house, then I’ll take the entire Michael Jackson, Phil Collins and The Police discography.
