ANNE MARIE'S PLAYLIST

STEPHEN'S PLAYLIST

ANNE MARIE TO STEPHEN:

AM: What is your favorite song?

SB: Neck and neck between Only Gonna Let You Down and Idol Eyes, but I gotta give the edge to Idol Eyes.

AM: Have you heard any of these tracks before?

SB: Nope.

AM: One of my favorite parts of early December is seeing how many people I can ask for their Spotify Wrapped lists and who is willing to give up the goods? I also love listening to people give out a bunch of disclaimers before they share them... One of my favorite stories of this from this year was my good friend, Sadie Dean, who is a musician in her own right and listens to a lot of rock, indie rock, funk, etc. She got out her wrapped and showed a group of us on a shoot and it was ALL classical. All dead white guys who made music over 200 years ago. She claims that it’s the only thing she can listen to that “won’t distract her” when she’s writing, but we all walked away feeling like we had more questions about Sadie than we had going in… Twas a truly amazing experience that had us laughing for days.

So, here’s my question, how many people’s Wrapped lists have you gotten a hold of?

SB: Haha that’s hilarious about Sadie. And sadly…not one single Wrapped list!! Someone at work threw out a Slack note about them and wondering if anyone would be willing to share. So I did thinking others would join. Nobody else did afterwards and maybe mine was so embarrassing that they didn’t want to humiliate themselves or perhaps they saw how killer the music was and realized they couldn’t compete. Either way, Wrapped, party of one over here.

STEPHEN TO ANNE MARIE:

SB: What is your favorite song?

AM: Lonely by John Mark Nelson. Isn’t it funny how sometimes songs about being lonely resonate with you when you are? And then also when you’re not?

SB: Have you heard any of these tracks before?

AM: Just Nevr by Ray Bull.

SB: Your Spotify Wrapped report just came out. Any surprises? Any songs you had forgotten about and feel back in love with?

AM: I mean… There was a lot of Harry Styles on mine. It was my feel good album of the beginning of the year. Janelle Monáe. Khi Infinite who wrote a beautiful little song about falling in love called “Deep End.” A lot of one off indie songs from various, incredible small bands.
