ANNE MARIE'S PLAYLIST

STEPHEN'S PLAYLIST

ANNE MARIE TO STEPHEN:

AM: What is your favorite song?

SB: Ok well this time you’re hitting me with that sweet Latin vibe right off the bat. Hard to recover, so I gotta give it to Beto Villares.

AM: Have you heard any of these tracks before?

SB: Just Medium Build.

AM: Who is your 2021 style icon? Note: I mean someone who is out and about in society this year.

SB: Oh man, already that’s tough because you’re implying that I actually know who’s out in society or that I’ve been around society this year, which is a stretch. But if I had to take a guess by the few images I’ve flipped past, I’ve got to give it to our guy Leon Bridges. Somehow that guy has continued to evolve his music and his look without compromising. I see an Instagram post from him and he looks like he’s dressed from the 50s but he’s jamming and dancing with modern hip hop artists and it just works. And then the next post he’s dressed in some stylish modern day threads, but is in West Texas and there’s a tumbleweed blowing behind him and it still freaking works. Don’t know how you do it Leon, but whatever you do, just keep on doing it.

STEPHEN TO ANNE MARIE:

SB: What is your favorite song?

AM: I was really digging Karma Fields this month.

SB: Have you heard any of these tracks before?

AM: No. Translation (Wedding Crashers voice): How does he do that? I never know how he does that!

SB: Right now (not all time) who is your favorite artist under 30 and your favorite artist over 40?

AM: Well, over 40 is Christopher Nolan. I just finished his biography and I felt so inspired. It was such a great reminder that the road to creative success is long and that creatives rarely make things that everybody unanimously agrees is great. There are always naysayers. Under 30 right now is Finneas. I think he is going to be one of the great music producers of his generation and I can’t wait to see what kind of music he makes in the future as he branches out more and more from working with his sister.
