APRIL 2020

ANNE MARIE'S PLAYLIST

STEPHEN'S PLAYLIST

ANNE MARIE TO STEPHEN:

AM: What is your favorite song?

SB: I was thinking some of the up front songs were legit, but then I heard Evinha and it was game over. Prompted me to start a new playlist called Man from U.N.C.L.E. where I plan to save all of those smooth jams.

AM: Have you heard any of these tracks before?

SB: Foxygen is the only one I've heard before. Well done.

AM: Which artist crushed the quarantine game with their single or album drop?

SB: So, I'll answer this in a few different ways. First, for a straight up guilty pleasure album I gotta go with Dua Lipa. She just has some really catchy, fun songs on her new album. Secondly, the album that I can't seem to shake that's a little off the beaten path has been Hazel English that dropped last week. Just reminds me of a California summer surfer/skateboarder vibe that is a welcomed departure from my overcast house arrest. And someone who hasn't dropped an album recently but whose songs I have had on repeat is Harry Nathan. He's got some really interesting songs that have stuck with me.

STEPHEN TO ANNE MARIE:

SB: What is your favorite song?

AM: Favourite Kind Of Girl… Gahh, the first track. I hate it when you do that to me.

SB: Have you heard any of these tracks before?

AM: Not these tracks specifically. I had a name recognition thing with Joywave and Wild Nothing.

SB: April looks to be another month of forced isolation. Let's pretend when this thing finally comes to an end, you're in charge of cruising down the streets to make it official. What song are you blaring when you do it?

AM: That’s so hard! I’ve been thinking about this question for a month and I still don’t know the answer. I almost want a beloved artist to drop a NEW single with a great beat the day after this is “over” so we can fuse it with our soon-to-be new memories of the next chapter instead of an old song that we had during the quarantine that will inevitably have old memories coupled with it, too. It’s almost the same feeling I feel on the precipice of a new romantic relationship? Sometimes you just want a clean break from the old albums and you want a new one, free of baggage, to help you move on.

So, to everybody out there making music right now, we’re counting on you!
